The Virgin Mary Mother of Sorrows Christian Medal, Matre Dolorosa, Sterling Silver by Jean Balme of Saumur France circa 1930 With 18" Chain
This is a beautiful silver medal of The Virgin Mary Mother of Sorrows with the initials of the artist on the front. It has the boars head mark for 925 silever and a maker's mark which I cannot read.
The artist is the famous medallist Jean Blame of Saumur, France who worked in the atelier he took over from his father Joseph Balme in the early 1930s.
The reverse is blank so could easily be engraved as a present.
