Sacred Heart Medal 22 carat Rolled Gold, French FIX, Circa 1910, 2.2 centimetre diameter, 2.2 grams Rare Our Lady of the Rosary Medal
Such an unusual medal produced by Albert Savard pf Paris. On the front is Christ with The Sacred Heart, however, on the reverse where one would normally expect to see The Sacred Heart of the Virgin Mary, we see a depiction of Our Lady of the Rosay with 'Rosario' emblazoned across the front of Her dress.
It is 22 carat gold filled which is called 'FIX' here in France. This method involves pressing two sheets of gold onto a medal which is usually made of copper or bronze.
With fix you can see where the two sheets of gold have been joined at the edge. It means there is a lot more gold on a fixe medal or brooch than normal gold plating. In fact companies that buy gold will not buy plated items but will buy FIX because of the high gold content.
The medal is 2.2 cm in diameter.
The whole piece weighs 2.2 grams
As can be seen from the photos this lovely medal is in excellent condition.
