Antique Holy Water Font, French Napoleon III circa 1870, Red Velvet Base, Gilded Regule Corpus Christi, Bronze Ormolu Setting, 24 x 19.5 cm
This stunning 19th century velvet covered Holy Water Font, or 'Benitier' as it would be called here in France, is in lovely condition. Some of the velvet has worn away over the past 150 years or so but otherwise it is perfect.
The cross is gilded ormolu and mounted on it is a lovely gilded Corpus Christi which is made from cast bronze or regule as it is known here.
An absolutely splendid example of a 19th century Holy Water Font.
It measures 24 cm by 19.5 cm
