A wonderful example of Christian Art, this beautiful Holy Water Font is set with hundreds of tiny enamel pieces into a brass setting with immaculate precision. It is in almost perfect condition with just tiny nick on the beautiful onyx setting but this in no way detracts from the magic of this piece.

The font has a white enamel insert to hold the water and it has its original cover which sits perfectly over the font.

Inset is a wonderful miniature painting of Christ on porcelain. It is not signed on the front and I do not wish to remove it from its setting to see if there is a signature on the back. Christ is surrounded by a gold background.

I discovered it at an antique fair in Tarbes in the South West of France and was immediately struck by the workmanship and the superb colours.

It measures 16 cm tall and 9.5 cm at its widest point, which is the centre. The porcelain miniature measures 4.5 cm by 3.2 cm and the whole piece weighs 424 grams.

The back is of solid bronze with a bronze circle for wall hanging.
