Antique Wire Frame Glasses By Rouzier Of Tarbes, France, Gold Plated Circa 1890, Original Glass and Case, Excellent Condition

It is quite rare to come across a pair of glasses like this in such brilliant condition. The corrective lenses are perfect as well as the wire frame. It could do with a bit of a polish but otherwise you could wear them now.

The lenses were made by the optician and clockmakers, Rouzier of Tarbes which is the county town of the Haute Pyrenees region of France. The frame was created by a jewelers as it has a maker's mark on the bridge which is A.W. and the word 'double'. That means that there is twice the amount of gold on the frame as would be normal for gold plating so these were a very expensive pair of glasses in their day.

The case is original and in excellent condition as well. It has a flip top and the glasses simply slide inside.
