Antique Statue of The Virgin Mary by frère Marie-Bernard Circa 1920 16 Centimetres Tall
So light and delicate and yet in perfect condition, this beautiful statue of Our Blessed Mother The Virgin Mary still retains all its charm despite being just over 100 years old.
After the devastation of antiques and fine art of all types in France during and after the revolution, France created a catalogue of all the works and artists of importance throughout the country and it is all collected in la plateforme ouverte du patrimoine under the banner of the ministry of the interior.

This pretty little statue is marked Depose Caly Toulouse which means it is a registered design from the statue manufacturer Caly. However, they just made it, it was designed and created by Louis Richomme who became Father Marie Bernard, a trappist monk, priest and sculptor, who spent most of his life creating the wonderful statues of Saint Therese of Liseux.
It was made for Lourdes as it is s copy of the statue of The Virgin Mary that stands in the grotto there.
