Antique Rosary, Mother of Pearl Beads, Gold Plated Solid Silver, Circa 1930, Superb Quality and Condition

This beautiful rosary was made around 1930 which is clear because it contains a medal of Saint Therese of The Roses and she was not made a saint until 1926.

The cross, the 10 other medals and the link medal are all solid silver and heavy gold plated. The 10 medals begin with one of The Virgin Mary on one side and the scene from the grotto at Lourdes on the other.

The second medal has a guardian angel with flowers on the reverse, another indication that this was made as a communion rosary. The link medal has The Virgin Mary on one side and a floral wreath on the other which also signifies a communion rosary. There are three medals of The Sacred Heart of Mary and one more angel medal.

There are 59 beads and each is hand carved and individually mounted, and each Our Father bead is beautifully capped, a sure sign of quality, and they are of perfect mother of pearl.

The cross has the boars' head hallmark which denotes 925 silver. There is also a maker's mark lozenge that denotes silver or gold.

This lovely delicate rosary measures 47 centimetres in length and weighs 26.2 grams.
