Antique Hand Carved Wooden Corpus Christi and INRI Plaque, Wonderful Quality and In Excellent Antique Condition

I am delighted to be able to offer this superbly carved Corpus Christi. Striking and beautiful, the figure exhibits such superb quality craftsmanship. The dimensional figure is likely carved from boxwood or fruit wood. Realistically rendered with a defined musculature and detailed features. Well defined hands and feet with the same exemplary quality craftsmanship to the rear of the carving with such beautiful detail on the hair of Our Lord.

This stunning Corpus Christi measures 23 x 17 centimetres.

The original owner was not certain but believed it to have been carved late 18th to early 19th century. It came from an ancient chateau and it has been extremely well cared for with no woodworm except for the INRI plaque. It has one small chip to the top right of Christ's loin cloth but this was clearly done many, many years ago as the patina of age applies to the chip as well.

Naturally this rare and beautiful piece will ship with full international tracking and will require a signature.
