Art Deco Bronze of Our Lady of Lourdes Marked Lojou, Circa 1930, 9x8 centimetres not including the base, Excellent Condition
This lovely bronze of Our Blessed Mother The Virgin Mary is made from bronze which has then been carved (Ciselee in French) to produce this exquisite piece.
I sometimes see on Etsy and other market places where Lojou is described as a French artist of the art deco period. Actually, Lojou is not a person but a place in Brittany in France.
The atelier Lojou was located not far from the famous Quimper porcelian factory and the skilled artisans there produced high quality souvenirs for places such as Lourdes, which is the case here.
The bronze is backed with olive wood and has been set onto a mahogany base.
The bronze itself measures 9 x 8 centimetres and the base is 9.5 x 5 x 1.5
