Art Deco Rosary From France With Hand Cut Mother of Pearl Beads and Rolled Gold on Silver Cross, Chain and Medal
A beautifully made and strung art deco rosary from France made in the 1920s. Each mother of pearl bead is perfect and the cross is wonderfully detailed. Plated in 22ct gold, which is the standard for France, both the cross and the linking medallion are in superb condition. The medallion bears the head of Our Blessed Mother the Virgin Mary and this medal has the lozenge with the crab hallmark which denotes solid silver.
The cross is also marked and has at the top the dove of peace, the Rosary Basilica of Lourdes on the left, the grotto scene from Lourdes on the right and Our Blessed Mother the Vigin Mary at the base. The Corpus Christi is made from rose gold. On the rear it is simply marked Lourdes
