Antique Rosary, Silver Cross, Links and Chain, Hand Made, Rock Crystal Beads, Hallmarked, Circa 1890
A beautiful and superb quality sterling silver and rock crystal rosary that was made in France around 1890.
Each bead is multi faceted and they are all rock crystal, also known as quartz crystal or gem crystal is mined from the earth. Rock crystal has more silicone dioxide than manmade crystal; it is heavier. They catch the light wonderfully and it sparkles as it moves. The silver of the shaft shines through each perfect bead and gives a stunning effect. The beads are 4mm in diameter.
Each of the Our Father beads is 5 mm in diameter.
The stunning puffed heart link medal measures 1 x 1 centimetres.
The puffed cross is also solid silver and measures 2.5 x 1 centimetres. It is a full five decade rosary and is 34 cm in length.
It is in absolutely brilliant condition with very little signs of wear. Puffed heart rosaries are rare in themselves and I have never seen one that also had a puffed cross.
