Antique Corozo Rosary, Late 19th Century, Carved Tauga Nut Beads and Case, Link Heart and Cross in Silver

A rare French rosary that has beads intricately carved from Tauga nut or Coroza as it is called in France. Tauga nut is interesting as it has no grain and it was difficult to determine what the beads were made of without extensive research.

The cross and link medal are of silver and this beautiful small rosary and it has a hand carved complete Tauga nut case.

The whole rosary is in remarkable condition for its age.

It came from a collection I purchased from a chateaux near Agen in the south west of France .

This is a rare collector's piece rosary. It measures just 26 centimetres in length.
