Such and elegant and stylish Limoges china bowl that would decorate any table. It is in almost immaculate condition with just one tiny chip on the base, although it was covered in gunk when I found it at a vide grenier or boot sale in South West France. The detail is crisp and clear with lovely swirls and pretty handles lavishly covered in gold.

Wonderful pure white opalescent porcelain for which Limoges is rightly world famous.

In 1840, David Haviland, who had a china shop in New York City, made his first trip to France to establish an alliance with a manufacturer who could create pieces of porcelain for the American trade. He eventually settled in Limoges, France to oversee production. This was near the source of the abundant kaoline mines, the special white clay unique to Limoges porcelain. He established his own company in 1853 to produce china specifically for the American market.

As most of the pieces from this brilliant factory went to America it is rare to find examples here in France. Most of them would have gone to one of the exquisite porcelain painters that worked in and around Limoges and then would have been shipped to America.

It is in excellent condition and would grace any collection.

This lovely bowl is clearly marked with the Haviland stamp from 1962. It measures 5 inches in diameter and stands 2 inches tall.
