A beautifully made pendant medal of silver plated filigree copper with a twisted copper edge.

The basilic of Our Lady of Sion is in the Alsace region of France and borders on Germany. As the result of several conflicts between the two countries of a few centuries, this region has changed hands quite often.

This lovely pendant medal was made to commemorate the return of Alsace to France after it had been annexed by Germany during WWI.

Alsace was annexed again by Germany in 1939 and not returned until 1946.
