The great exhibition of Paris and the summer Olympic games were held simultaneously in 1900.

As a director of Le Bon Marche in Paris, Eugene Dubillon and his wife Jeanne were issued tickets for the event and they were kept in his collection in perfect condition. They have been stamped, and so were used, which makes it even more remarkable that they are in such superb condition.

Examples of this ticket are in the Museum of Paris as both the exhibition and the games were hugely important to Paris and the whole of France.

Designed by artists Daniel Dupuis and Georges Duval and printed by Paris-Imp. Chaix / Paul Dupont

Depicts a blue-toned Paris street/bridge scene (such as the Pont Alexandre III and the grand palaces) on the right and a laurel-crowned female allegory/profile on the left, along with serial numbers (0,896,075 and individual ticket counter numbers like 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18) and red official control stamps.

Depending on condition and provenance, these tickets sell for between 80 and 300 euros each. While complete sets are much higher.

This set comes from the private collection of Eugene Dubillon and will come with a letter of authenticity from his grandson Bruno Dubillon.
