Stunning Silver and Crystal Rosary, 5 Decade, 34 Centimetres in Length, Circa 1920
This lovely delicate rosary is a collaboration. The solid silver cross was made in Germany, which is not difficult to work out as it has 'Germany' on the bale. It has the 800 mark for 800 silver so it was made after 1886 and before 1939.
I believe the complete rosary was made in France as the link medal has the boar's head mark for French 925 silver and it bears a French lozenge maker's mark which I cannot read.
The whole chain is 925 silver as are the exquisitely made Our Father Beads. The other beads are clear crystal.
The cross measures 2.5 x 2 cm and is studded with seven marcasites. Each of the Our Father beads measures 5 mm in diameter and the other beads 3mm. The link medal is 1cm in diameter. It is a beautiful and delicate rosary which I am presuming was made for a lady.
