Fabulous Limoges Enamel Bowl With Cast Bronze Base, By F J Carmona Of Limoges France circa 1950
What a gorgeous bowl this is, much prettier in real life than any photo can portray. It quite took my breath away when I first saw it.
It was made by the master enameler F.J. Carmona of Limoges France who won the Grand Prize For Art in Limoges.
The bowl itself is enameled onto copper and has a beautiful curve to it. The enamel is clustered and raised in places which gives it a wonderful tactile quality. The colours are as vibrant and rich as the day it was first made which is one of the main attributes of these masterful Limoges enamels - they never fade.
The centre stud which holds the base is intricately made inn the form of overlapping leaves that compliment the deep turquoise blue of the bowl with its surf white centre. Below the foot is ornately cast bronze and it sits on a deep blue velvet cushion.
A beautiful piece of work by a master craftsman.
It measures 20 cm across and stands 9 cm tall and it is in brilliant condition with no chips or cracks anywhere.
