
Antique Profession Crucifix, Presentation to Gustave Joly 1912, Handmade with Halo on the Front and Sacre Coeur On The Reverse,
This is an absolutely beautiful example of a 19th century profession crucifix that commemorates Gustave Joly being raised to the position of Under Deacon on 21st October 1912.
The beautiful trefoil cross is made of solid bronze which has been nickel plated and then very skilfully inlaid with ebony. The Corpus Christi and INRI plaque are bronze with a lovely patina of age.
It is wonderfully detailed and the figure of Christ is exceptional.
This exceptional piece measures 20 x 11.5 centimetres and weighs 206.4 grams.
