Antique Communion Medal 22 carat Rolled Gold, French Oria, Circa 1920, 2.5 centimetre diameter, 5.7 grams

And while they were at supper, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke and gave it to His disciples and said, "Take you and eat, this is my Body." And taking the chalice He gave thanks and gave it to them saying, "Drink you all of this. For this is my Blood of the New Testament which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28)

This is the explanation for the image on this beautiful communion medal and the significance of the chalice on the reverse.

It is 22 carat gold filled which is called 'Oria' here in France. This method involves pressing two sheets of gold onto a medal which is usually made of copper or bronze.

With Oria you can see where the two sheets of gold have been joined at the edge. It means there is a lot more gold on this medal than normal gold plating. In fact companies that buy gold will not buy plated items but will buy Oria because of the high gold content.

The medal is not engraved on the reverse so would make a wonderful communion present. It is in exceptional condition.

The medal is 2.5 cm in diameter.

The whole piece weighs 5.7 grams
