Antique French Art Glass Rosary with Silver Our Father Beads, 42 cm, c. 1890

This antique French five-decade rosary, dating to circa 1890, features 5 mm art-glass beads on a silver chain, with intricate 7 mm silver Our Father beads decorated with silver wire. The cross bears a boar’s-head hallmark and measures 3.7 × 2.5 cm. The connecting medal depicts the Archangel Gabriel with a laurel wreath on the reverse. The rosary measures 42 cm long.

This is a beautifully delicate rosary exquisitely made. It is hallmarked with the boar's head on the exquisite cross, so it is Sterling silver.

Each of the stunning art glass beads, for which France was so famous, on the silver chain is 5 mm in diameter.

The cross is 3.7 x 2.5 cm and the link medal is 1 x 1 cm. The link medal has a depiction of The Archangel Gabriel on one side and the reverse has a laurel wreath. So this rosary was clearly created as a 1st Communion present and is almost certainly unique.

Each of the Our Father beads is wonderfully crafted from silver and decorated with silver wire. These incredibly intricate Our Father beads are 7mm in diameter.
